Nick is recognized for his commissions, teaching, and exhibitions in Australia, Europe, South America, the United States and Japan.
Adelaide born artist, Nick Mount, is one of Australia's most renowned glass blower / designers. Nick has mastered this difficult medium to such a refined extent that his works are not only well produced and decorative but reflect the intrinsic qualities of glass as a medium for expression.
Nick was born in Adelaide in 1952 and studied at the South Australian School of Art during 1970 to 1971 and undertook a non Diploma Course in Visual Arts at the Gippsland Institute of Advanced Education during 1972 to 1974. In 1976 Nick was appointed as Tutor in the Ceramics Department at the Caulfeild Institute of Technology and in the same year had established the 'Hot Glass Studio'. During 1985 to 1987, Nick worked as a teaching assistant at the Pilchuck School in Washington State, USA. In 1991 Nick established a new glass art studio in Norwood, South Australia and has been working there, producing glasswork ever since.
Nick has held numerous one person exhibitions throughout his career and has also participated in many group exhibitions around Australia. His work is represented in many private and corporate collections including the National Gallery in Canberra, the National Gallery of Victoria, LaTrobe Valley Arts Centre and various private collections in America and Europe.
